Kilimanjaro Travel Insurance
Essential Information for Climbers
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a high-altitude adventure that requires proper preparation, including comprehensive travel insurance.
At Intrepid Treks, we require all climbers to have valid travel insurance before joining any Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru trek. This is a mandatory safety requirement and is strictly enforced.
Mandatory Insurance Requirement
All climbers must have travel insurance that explicitly covers:
- High-altitude trekking activities
- Emergency medical treatment
- Medical evacuation up to at least 6,000 meters (20,000 feet) above sea level
Standard travel insurance policies often do not include high-altitude evacuation, so it is essential to confirm coverage details directly with your insurance provider.
Failure to provide valid insurance covering these requirements may result in denial of participation in the climb.
