7 Days Great Serengeti Migration Safari
Duration
Overview
The 7 Days Great Serengeti Migration Safari combines three of northern Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife destinations. This journey includes Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater while focusing on tracking the Great Wildebeest Migration across the Serengeti ecosystem.
Each year millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move across the Serengeti plains in search of fresh grazing. Their movement attracts predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and crocodiles, creating one of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles in the world. Depending on the season, the migration may be observed in the central, northern, or southern Serengeti.
The itinerary begins in Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab landscapes. From there the safari continues to the Serengeti plains where migration tracking and wildlife viewing take place. The journey concludes at the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most wildlife-dense ecosystems.
Travel is conducted in a private 4×4 safari vehicle with an experienced professional guide who monitors wildlife movements and maximizes viewing opportunities.

Safari Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha or Moshi to Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with a morning departure from Arusha or Moshi toward Tarangire National Park. The park is well known for its large elephant population and ancient baobab trees that dominate the landscape.
The Tarangire River runs through the park and attracts wildlife throughout the year, particularly during the dry season when animals gather around permanent water sources.
Game drives provide opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and numerous bird species.
Dinner and overnight take place at your accommodation near Tarangire National Park.
Day 2
Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast depart Tarangire and travel toward Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The route passes through scenic highlands before descending into the Serengeti plains. A picnic lunch is taken along the way before continuing with an afternoon game drive inside the park.
The Serengeti’s open grasslands support large populations of herbivores and predators including lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Dinner and overnight at your accommodation in the Serengeti.
Day 3
Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti
After breakfast begin a game drive through the central Serengeti while heading toward the northern Serengeti region.
The northern Serengeti is one of the most important areas for observing the Great Migration during river crossing season. Massive herds of wildebeest gather along the Mara River before attempting dramatic crossings.
Throughout the journey there are opportunities to see giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras, and numerous antelope species.
Dinner and overnight at your accommodation in the Serengeti.
Day 4
Northern Serengeti Game Drive
Today is dedicated to exploring the northern Serengeti ecosystem.
Game drives focus on locating migration herds and observing wildlife activity near the Mara River. When conditions allow, river crossings may occur as wildebeest attempt to cross crocodile-filled waters.
The region also supports strong populations of predators including lions and hyenas.
Return to the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 5
Northern Serengeti Wildlife Exploration
Continue exploring the Serengeti with additional game drives focused on migration activity and predator sightings.
The Serengeti landscape includes open plains, river valleys, and rocky kopjes which serve as lookout points for predators. Wildlife viewing opportunities include elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species.
Dinner and overnight at your accommodation in the Serengeti.
Day 6
Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti before beginning the journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The route passes through scenic landscapes and wildlife areas before reaching the Ngorongoro highlands.
Arrival in the late afternoon allows time to relax while enjoying views across the volcanic caldera.
Dinner and overnight at your accommodation near the Ngorongoro Crater.
Day 7
Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha or Moshi
After breakfast descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a wildlife viewing experience inside the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.
The crater floor supports a dense population of wildlife including buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, elephants, and predators such as lions and hyenas. The area is also one of the best locations in Tanzania to see the endangered black rhinoceros.
After the game drive and picnic lunch, the safari concludes with the return journey to Arusha or Moshi.
